Stella Riley Obituary
Mrs. Riley, 86, of Charlotte, died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Wilora Lake Healthcare Center.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, February 8, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel. Her funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday at Clear Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Donald Lisk officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Born July 11, 1922 in Charlotte, NC, Mrs. Riley was the last surviving child of the late Noah Edward Ferguson and Minnie Beaver Ferguson. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Clear Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Riley was preceded in death in 1988 by her husband, Ernest Leonard Riley, and her siblings, James Beaver Ferguson, Bleeker Estridge, George Renfrow Ferguson, Mae Cornelia Godfrey and Perry H. Ferguson.
She is survived by three nephews and two nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clear Creek Baptist Church, 9015 Ferguson Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.

Growing up, my family stayed many times with Ernest & Stella when we vacationed in North Carolina from Illinois. She was a wonderful hostess who made us welcome and feel right at home. Praise God for her testimony. I have some wonderful memories of her.

Our sympathies go out to Stella's family and church family. We have missed seeing Stella front row of our choir & sitting on the pew in front of us. We miss seeing her at Show Mars. We miss seeing her Chev Impala. We miss her smile and always positive attitude about life and her health. Stella loved to talk about her family - always with pride and love. We looked forward to coming to church and visiting with Stella. She took much pride in looking her best - presenting her best while in God's house. Stella set a positive example for all Christians to follow. We miss her and we rejoice knowing she is with our lord and her family in heaven.
