Marilyn Wise

1929 - 2017

Marilyn Bernice (Barthelmas) Wise passed away in her sleep on the morning of October 9. She was born to Arthur and Bernice Barthelmas on June 15, 1929, in Pickaway County. Marilyn was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. Later in life she earned her funeral director's license and was the co-owner of Defenbaugh-Wise funeral home with her husband Jack. She could always be found at the funeral home with doughnuts, cookies and coffee for anyone who came in.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Jack V. Wise; and her brothers Ned, Gail and Gene Barthelmas. Left to mourn her passing are her sons Jeff (Toni) Wise of Circleville, Dr. Rick Wise of Millbridge Maine, Jan Wise of Laurelville, and David Wise of Amanda; her granddaughters Tiffany Wise (Jason Vandagriff), Bethany (Loren) Savage, Olivia Wise, and great-grandsons Stone and Cooper Savage; as well as many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service for Marilyn will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger, 151 E. Main St., Circleville, OH 43113. Donations in her name may be made to either Boy Scout Troop 170 of Trinity Lutheran Church or the Kiwanis Club of Circleville.
