Trygve Vorren Obituary
Horse Shoe - Captain Trygve Vorren, 59, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals.
A native of Sandsoy, Norway, he was the son of the late Sverre K. Vorren and Bertha Skare Vorren.
Captain Vorren served with Norwegian Cruise Lines for 30 years and last served as the Captain of the Norwegian Epic. He was a devoted father and loved hiking in the mountains of western North Carolina.
Surviving are his sons, Kristopher R. Vorren of Chapel Hill, and William A. Vorren of Mills River; brothers, Oyvind Vorren and Oddmund Vorren both of Sandsoy, Norway, and Magne B. Vorren of Oslo, Norway.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 6, 2011 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with Celebrant Gatha Dickson officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service. Burial will be in Norway at a later date.

I sailed with Trygve many times as his Reef Pilot on the Norwegian Star when she was based in Australian waters.
He was a wonderful, kind and consumate professional, and was highly regarded. I loved his sense of humour.
