Alice R. Hart

Alice Riddell Hart, 79, passed away January 28, 2008, at the home of her daughter Jan and Dr. Mary Hawkins in Flora.
Born March 17, 1928, one of triplet girls, to Samuel Lee and Belle Riddell in Kilmichael, Mississippi. The family moved to Canton, MS in 1941, where she later met and married Wilmer Evans Hart- to this union, five children were born. After the death of her husband in 1981, she maintained the family home in Canton until the last several years.
Mrs. Hart is a retired State employee. She was a long standing member of the First Baptist Church of Canton and was known to all as a woman devoted to her Christian faith, a faith she daily lived. She made many mission trips to places in the United States and also to Honduras and to Hong Kong.
She was preceded in death by her younger sister Jane Riddell Lewis and her youngest son Samuel Lee Hart.
Mrs. Hart is survived by her sons Wilmer Evans Hart, Jr. and wife Cathy of Sisters, Oregon, and William Louis Hart and wife Zina of Pinedale, Wyoming. Also surviving are her two daughters, Betty Lou Watkins of Canton and Jan Hart of Flora.
She is also survived by her triplet sisters Annice Howard of Macon, MS, and Aleene Walters of Jackson. Surviving also are grandchildren, Amy, John Michael, Ashley, Lauren, Steven, Douglas, and Cody; and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, at the First Baptist Church of Canton with interment in the Canton Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Breeland Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
