Damarcus Antwane McCarty (39), the oldest son of Donald and Delores McCarty, was born May 22, 1977, in Jackson, MS. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 5708 Old Canton Rd., Jackson, MS, 39211.
Damarcus was a 1995 honor graduate of Callaway High School and a 1999 honor graduate of Jackson State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Technology Airway Science. His Air Traffic Controller Certification was received from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical School. He was a member of Delta Delta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
During his fifteen-year Aeronautical career, Damarcus worked as an Air Traffic controller in the Federal Aviation Administration. At the time of his transition, he was working at Houston TRACON. Other organizations of work included: Jackson, MS, ATCT; West Palm Beach FL ATCT; Orlando, FL, ATCT; and Central Florida TRACON. He was revered as an outstanding controller, was an active and devoted National Air Traffic Control Association (NATCA) member, and was a previously commissioned as a National Representative for the Orlando ATCT.
Damarcus transitioned to his heavenly home on February 13, 2017, at MD Anderson Medical Center in Houston, TX. His immediate survivors are: his wife, DanYelle Gambrell McCarty, Esq.; two sons, Daylan Gambrell and Dominic Christian of Cypress, TX; parents, Donald and Delores McCarty of Jackson, MS; one brother, Dashaun (Tracy) McCarty of Grand Prairie, TX; and one niece, Caylee McCarty.

I am so sorry for your irreplaceable loss. When I saw this obituary for Demarcus I was so shocked. I remember the boys so well. They came to my swim class everyday when I taught at The Boys Club on West Capital St. They were so sweet and well mannered. I will keep the memories of those times close to heart.
