Christina Quatela, 93, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Fairfield, the beloved wife of the late Michael Quatela, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2020 at Watercrest Senior Living in Naples. She was born in Corato, Italy on January 7, 1927 to the late Antonio and Rosa Abbattista. The eldest of six children, she grew up in Manhattan and shared many stories of her childhood and living in such a loving family, even during the depression years.
Christina is survived by her devoted children, Annette Tillman and her husband Joseph of Ave Maria, FL, Victor Quatela and his wife Denise of Somerville, MA and Michael Quatela and his wife Lorraine of Lee's Summit, MO. She will also be missed by her sisters, Anna and Angelina; grandchildren, Amy Tillman Lehaney (Chris), Jessica Tillman White (Patrick), Sarah Quatela (and her partner, Yehudi Maldinado), David Quatela and Eric Quatela; great-grandchildren, Meghan and Joe Lehaney, and Abigail and Connor White; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her twin brothers, Joseph and George, and her sister Vincenza.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Dr. in Fairfield. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. There will be a walk-through visitation prior to the Mass from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield Center. The funeral Mass will be livestreamed for those not able to attend the service. In-person attendees are required to wear a face mask and adhere to strict social distancing guidelines.
