John Spicer Obituary

SPICER John Frederick Spicer, 87, a resident of Negus Road in West Dover, passed away Sunday May 20, 2012 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vermont. John was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on April 30, 1925 the son of John Granville and Matilda (Stelzer) Spicer and attended local schools. John served his country as a member of the United Sates Army during WWII. He worked as Logistics Manager for Rheingold Distribution in Bridgeport, Connecticut for twenty-five years. He also worked for Northeast Distributors in Wethersfield, Connecticut and Sokol Distributors in New York, City. John was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and was a huge New York sports fan, especially the Yankees and the Jets. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being surrounded by his grandchildren. John is survived by his son Kenneth Spicer and his wife Meri of West Dover, Vermont, where he formerly resided, and his grandchildren Theodora Spicer of Fairfield, Connecticut and Eric Spicer of Wickford, Rhode Island, and his son John Spicer of Florida and grandchildren Dawn Marie, Kathleen and Rebecca and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan Renaud Spicer, whom he married on June 12, 1948. At the request of the family there are no formal funeral services. If friends desire, memorial gifts in John's memory may be made to the Windham County Humane Society, c/o Covey & Allen Funeral Home P.O. Box 215 Wilmington, Vermont 05363.
