Janet Holden Obituary
Janet "Judy" Dunn Holden, 87, of Bridgewater, Virginia, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007, at Bridgewater Home.
Born on December 26, 1919, in South Charleston, West Virginia, Judy was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Raymond Hanger Dunn of South Charleston and Lewisburg, West Virginia.
She was a 1940 graduate of Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington, D.C. where she received a B.A. in Physical Education.
Judy moved from Pittsburgh to Lewisburg, WV in 1954 after her husband's death. During her years in Lewisburg, Judy enjoyed raising her daughters, gardening, and working in interior design. She was a Girl Scout Leader for 17 years, and also worked for a number of years at the Polly Craft Shop and Debra's House of Design. She was a member of the Old Stone Presbyterian Church. Judy retired to Charlottesville, Virginia in 1987, to be near her family, and moved to Bridgewater, Virginia, in 2003.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Fairchild Holden whom she married in 1941. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Mary Ann Dunlap of Lewisburg, West Virginia and Ida June "Boots" Reeves of Charleston, West Virginia.
She is survived by three daughters, Susan H. McClung and her husband, Richard, of New Market, Virginia, Betsey H. Johnson of Bridgewater, Virginia, Nancy H. Austin and her husband, Harry, of Dyke, Virginia; two sisters, Betty Dunn Bell of Charleston, West Virginia, and Nancy Dunn Von Blond of Sacramento, California; six grandchildren, Guy Richard McClung III and his wife, Sylvia, of Tifton, Georgia, Rebecca Templeton and her husband, Tom, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Casey McClung and his wife, Lisa, of Winchester, Virginia, Susan Johnson of Richmond, Virginia, Emily Johnson of Linville, Virginia, Clyde Wilson Hanner III and his wife, Susan, of Gordonsville, Virginia; and seven great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5th, 2007, at the funeral home. Dr. J. Dexter Taylor will preside over a brief service on Thursday, December 6th, 2007, at the funeral home. Interment at Rosewood Cemetery will follow the service.
