Ellen Johnson Obituary

Ellen Kathleen Johnson

1942 ~ 2021

In Loving Memory

Midvale, UT—Ellen Kathleen Johnson passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 28, 2021, surrounded by her children. She taught us much about bravery and love to the end. Kathy was born March 4, 1942, in Nephi, Utah to Victor LeGrande Collard and Merlene Collard, the second of their five children.

Her childhood was full of love and laughter with her siblings whom she was remarkably close with, her elder brother Dean, and younger sisters, Nancy, Ina, and Marsha, with whom she shared a close bond through their adult years. She was known lovingly by them as Kathleen. She was a favorite Aunt loved and adored by her nieces and nephews.

The Joy of Kathy's life was her two children, Gary and Donna, her Grandchildren and Greatgrandchildren. She was an incredible seamstress, and her family was blessed with many articles made with love. Kathy loved to travel and shared that love with each of her Grandchildren. In 2017 she took her entire family on a cruise, twenty-seven people got to see and share some of what she loved.

Kathy was married to David Paul Johnson for 43 years. Together they were successful and respected in business in the Salt Lake Valley. Dave was involved in real estate investments, and they owned Honda Suzuki of Salt Lake. They retired in 2007 and traveled the world. They loved to hunt and went to Africa fourteen times. Dave was a pilot and they traveled all over the United States in their private plane. They loved summers on their boat on Yellowstone Lake and their home in Mesquite, Nevada.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband David Paul Johnson, Father Victor LeGrande Collard, her Mother Merelene Collard, and her sisters, Nancy, and Ina Jean. She is survived by her Brother Dean Collard, Sister Marsha (George) Shupe, Son Gary Paul (Lisa) Johnson, Daughter Donna Kay (Brad) Hansen, six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. The family would like to express our thanks to the caregivers and staff at Carrington Court and Active Hospice for their loving care given in her final months.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 7, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Midvale East 2nd Ward, 7250 South 300 East, Midvale, Utah. Family and friends may call Thursday January 6, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S Highland Dr. Millcreek, UT and from 10:00-10:45 AM at the church prior to services. I loved visiting Dave and Kathy. I was their bishop and so got to go to their home several times. I loved to talk to them and visit the animal trophy room downstairs. They both will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I loved working with her in Relief Society. She was such a sweet person and my Husband was always concerned after your Father passed and he loved doing whatever service he could for her. I loved her sitting on the back row of Relief Society and Sacrament Meeting with me. Earth lost an Angel when she left however I am certain that the Reunion with her beloved Dave and all others who greeted her was wonderful. May God keep her Family in His loving arms until you meet again
