Gayle Mayfield Obituary

Gayle Wood Mayfield 1933 - 2006 Gayle Wood Mayfield returned home on August 14, 2006 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 12, 1933 in Farmington, Utah. She was married for time and all eternity to her childhood sweetheart, Richard Mayfield on November 7, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. Gayle loved her family most of all, was non-judgmental and had unconditional love for everyone. She was always supportive of her children and grandchildren in sports, theatrical performances, etc. She was not only a wonderful mother, she was a true friend to her children and they all loved her for her quick wit and caring spirit. She was even a mother to her family's friends, who still consider her their mom. As a very talented musician she played the organ and piano for church services all her life. She loved to cook for her family and served them wonderful dishes, especially at family gatherings. She loved education and encouraged all her family in proper spelling and grammar. Nature was very special to her and she loved camping, fishing, and being outdoors. Gayle always found a way to put a smile on your face. She looked for the best in people, and never criticized. She was a kind, great friend, and loved to share good food and produce with everyone. Gayle loved to hug and was always willing to share. She is survived by her husband, Richard K. Mayfield, and four children, Debra (Steven) Bastian, Marsha (Frank) Lovell, Ryan (Debi) Mayfield and Kevin (Shannon) Mayfield. Grandma was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 13 great-children. She is also survived by her brother, Richard (Afton) Wood. She is preceded in death by her parents, Afton and Lavinia Wood, and brother Roy. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Farmington Rock Chapel, 272 North Main Street, Farmington, UT. Friends and family may call on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Our family will certainly miss "Grandma Mayfield". I appreciate all that Gayle did for our family during our years in Farmington. My heart is full when I contemplate all of the loving service and friendship that we have received from the Mayfields. Gayle is one of my favorite people that I have known.

Dick and family, we offer our love and thoughts during this difficult time. I am so thankful for the Savior's great sacrifice that promises us that we can be reunited once again. All our love.
