Jeffrey Cazier Obituary

1953 ~ 2014
Jeffrey Cazier, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away in his home surrounded by family on December 15, 2014 at the age of 61 due to melanoma cancer.
Jeff was born August 16, 1953 in Brigham City, Utah, and raised there by his loving parents, Stephen Allen Cazier and Pearl Doris Olsen Cazier. He grew up pumping gas and servicing cars at his family-owned Conoco service station on Main Street, and forever loved his hometown. His childhood included baseball, skiing, golf, tennis, scouting, and annual Peach Days celebrations. Jeff loved nature, adventure, and spending time outdoors. He loved camping, backpacking, and riding off-road vehicles with close friends and family. After serving in the LDS Pennsylvania mission, Jeff found true love and married Kaye Hendricks in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 30, 1975. Perfectly paired with comedy and humor, Jeff's fun personality entertained all who knew him. He had a memory for faces, and names. He was never shy about socializing, which served him well as an enthusiastic student body officer at Weber State College. After graduation, he and Kaye raised their family in Kaysville. Jeff worked for many years in the computer industry and later began his own interior painting and decor business. He generously gave his time and resources to the Boy Scouts of America and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver award. He was a Philmont Scout Ranch Instructor, District Executive Venturing Trainer, and Scoutmaster. He loved working in his vegetable garden. His deep testimony of the Savior was felt by all who knew him. He served in church bishoprics, high priest leaderships, and young mens. Above all, Jeff's greatest treasure and enjoyment was his wife and family whom he loved deeply.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Kaye; three siblings, Stephen (Renee), Kathy (Doyle) Kerbs, and Craig; four children, Carrie (Ben) Brough, Garrett (Erin), Russell (Rachel), Spencer (Whitney); and seven grandchildren.
A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main, Farmington, Utah. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 18, at the Kaysville Utah South Stake Center, 900 S. Main, Kaysville, Utah with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Kaysville City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Russon Brothers Mortuary. Dear Cazier Family,

Flavia and I are deeply saddened about your loss. He made us feel at home whenever we visited and undoubtedly made our stay in Salt Lake a memorable one. He was such a gentleman, loving and charismatic and fun to be around. He hardly knew us as he had only met us through Garrett (son) but always treated us as family. We value the time we spent around him. We pray that God keeps you strong and together in this trying moment. We love you. May his soul rest in eternal peace

As a childhood friend of Jeff's, I have many fond memories of hanging out at Al's Conoco helping him with various chores and then being rewarded with a bottle of Dr. Pepper and a bag of peanuts, which Jeff taught me tasted best when poured in the bottle. Very sad to hear of his far too early passing.

Craig and I were classmates with Jeff at Box Elder. What a great guy. He was so friendly and such a gentle man and a gentlemen. Everyone liked him and he liked everyone. Even though we have lost touch with him we were saddened to hear of his illness and now your loss of a great man. There are not enough good Scouters in this world. What a loss for all. Our love to you and your family. Craig and Marilyn Burt Smith-Brigham City.

I had the privilege of team teach "Venturing in The LDS Church" at Philmont with Jeff. It was one of the greatest weeks and most memorable experiences of my life. I love Jeff and learned so much from him.

I believe one of the great purposes of Jeff's life is he was "set" in this time and place to be a "light" and a "savior" for many young men and young men's leaders (D&C 103:9).

Kaye, thank you for sharing Jeff with so many! I can only imagine how much Jeff will be missed, but heaven has a new "light" and I am certain it is burning as bright as ever!

How I will miss Jeff! I have such fond memories from our time at Weber State. He is a great man who chose a great wife. It is not easy to understand the trials they have known. What I do know, is that they are an example to us in how to face challenges with courage and strength. You are loved.

What a good man Jeff is. I knew him growing up in Brigham City with his wonderful family.
Shared good times with his sister, Cathy. I had the fortune of living near him in Kaysville and visiting with him as I passed his home on my nightly walks. He was never to busy to visit and reminisce. My love and prayers go out to you and your family.

Dearest Cazier Family,
In so many ways, the Caziers have always felt like family. I think much of that is because of the love I so strongly felt as a young man with Jeff as my scout leader and our family's home teacher. Jeff was both a leader and friend, an advisor and supporter. Over the years I've turned to him on several occasions for help with home projects and just to talk about life and I've always been uplifted and come away knowing he genuinely cares about me. Perhaps if I were to choose one word to describe Jeff it might be genuine. His genuine compassion, genuine kindness, genuine service, and genuine testimony have greatly shaped my life. I sincerely mourn his passing with each of you. He will be undoubtedly so deeply missed by his family and all of those who love him. May the Lord offer solace to the hearts of each of those longing to be reunited with this wonderful and honorable man. All my love, Jason Hansen
