Kenneth McKay Obituary

Kenneth Verl McKay Jr. 1924 ~ 2006 Kenneth Verl McKay Jr. passed away June 25, 2006 with family at his side at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City. Kenneth was born to Kenneth Verl Sr. and Bernetta Hansen McKay on October 12, 1924 in Mount Pleasant, UT. He attended Wasatch Academy and became President of the Student Body. Ken served his country in the South Pacific during World War II and was Honorably Discharged by the Navy in May of 1946. He then re-enlisted during the Korean Conflict and was later Honorably Discharged by the Army in September of 1951. Ken married Betty Jensen on July 23, 1946 and had six daughters. He later married JoAnne Hughs in December of 1994. JoAnne was a good friend and loved very much by Ken. He retired after 34 years with a pension from his Professional Sales position at McKesson Pharmaceuticals, then went on to work for B&E Sales of California. Kenneth supported his daughters in pursuing their higher education degrees, and was proud of their professional accomplishments. Kenneth is survived by his wife, JoAnne, and her daughters Kimberley and Paula. Ken is also survived by Betty Jensen Hopkin, who is the mother of his six children, daughters, Sherry, Charlotte, Ginger, Michele, Sally, and Holly; sisters, Patricia McKay Hansen (Oniel) and Diane McKay Sperry (Gordon), brother Charles McKay (Elna), and extended family of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Ginger McKay Dillon, and sister Mayre McKay Andersen (McKay). Ken McKay was loved by his family and friends. We are grateful for his life! We love you and wish you peace. Graveside services will be held with military honors Friday, June 30, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mount Pleasant City Cemetery under the direction of Rasmussen Mortuary.
