Sam was a hardworking and energetic man who founded Kite's Custom Cleaners in 1958 and Kite's Draperies and Interiors in 1973. Sam loved showing competitively Palomino Western Pleasure horses with his children, fishing in his pond with his grandchildren, dancing with his wife at the Petroleum Club on Saturday nights and traveling around the world with their friends. He was an active member of the Westside Rotary Club, the Fort Worth Petroleum Club, Ridglea Country Club, the Fort Worth Air Power Council and Westside Church of Christ. Sam's family would like to give special thanks to Sherri Haught, Gloria Baylor, Janice Brown, Rachel Espinosa and the other ladies from Professional Caretakers who took such wonderful care of Sam in his later years. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Henderson and Lenora Carter Kite; brothers, Frank and Haskel Kite; and sister, Willie Kite Simpson. Just heard of his passing last week. I worked for Tim Sullivan for a time at his 7th St office and knew Mr. Kite and his daughter through their working relationship with Tim. He was such a nice, jovial man. Sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mr Kite's passing. I have fond memories of hanging out with friends at the stables, riding horses all over "creation", as my mother Alice, would say. A once in a lifetime hot air balloon ride began one early morning from your pasture as well. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts, and accept my sincere condolences, from Mother & myself.

Dear Kite Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Sam and Aline were so good to my grandmother, Verline Hilley for many years. She loved getting pecans from your yard, and the friendship at Westside Church of Christ. Much love to your family!

I will never forget the extraordinary lengths Mr. Kite went to--to make my husband happy. He had a favorite shirt that had been laundered and the dye from the burgundy checks ran. The shirt was from Brooks Brothers and at the time the only store was located in Dallas. Mr. Kite suggested that Brooks Brothers should give my husband a new shirt and he would be happy to take it to them because he was going to Dallas the next day. He did just that and brought my husband a brand new shirtl. I shall never forget him and his kindness to the Prescott family. With deepest sympathies, Emmy Lou Prescott

I met Mr. Kite in 1967 and thought here is a hard, strict man. Over the years I realized that he is an old 'softy' and a good guy.
