W. Poteet Obituary

W. Dee Poteet Jr., 94, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, June 16, 2014. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. A reception with the family will be held immediately following at the funeral home. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Travis Avenue Baptist Church. A longtime resident of Fort Worth, Dee was born on Oct. 20, 1919, son of W. Dee Poteet and Bonnie Putnam Poteet, in Johnson County. The family moved to Fort Worth when he was 6 years old. He graduated from Paschal High School in 1937. He was a member of the class of '41 at Texas A&M where he majored in mechanical engineering and played in the Texas A&M Fighting Texas Aggie Band. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946. After returning to Fort Worth, he went to work for Mid Continent Oil Supply Company where he worked and retired as a senior vice president in 1985. He was a member of the Professional Petroleum Engineers Association of America. He loved spending time with family and helping his parents who moved back to farming in later years. Dee Jr. was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 59 years, Marie Robertson Poteet. Survivors: Son, William Dee Poteet III and wife, Margaret, of Fort Worth; daughter, Annette Addis of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Bill Poteet and wife, Charmaine, Brad Poteet and wife, Gina, Bryan Poteet and wife, Angeles, and Shanna Rivera and husband, Gino; and 10 great-grandchildren, Kyler, Elise, Daniel, Thomas, Wilson, Tre, Carlina, Anna Rose, Paloma and Phillip.
