Joyce Dargusch Obituary

Dargusch, Joyce
1926 - 2021
Joyce Baltzell Dargusch, died May 5, 2021, peacefully at home in Upper Arlington, surrounded by family. Joyce was born January 28, 1926 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to the late Verle and Mary Baltzell. She is also preceded in death by her brother Richard Baltzell, daughter-in-law Debby Dargusch, and granddaughter Lindsey Dargusch, as well as by her husband Carlton Spencer Dargusch, Jr. to whom she was wed from 1947 until his death on January 25, 1975. Joyce is survived by her sons, Carlton III "Sonny" (Laurie), William (Christine), Timothy (Chris) and Jonathan (Mariann); as well as ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Joyce attended Columbus School for Girls for a time and graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1943, after which she attended Miami University. Joyce had a passion for life, and lived for her four boys and her friends, as well as a good game of bridge. She relished dinner with friends, sew n' tell, golf, and travel. Joyce was no shrinking violet and was well known for her signature red lipstick and stylish bouffant. As they say in sports, she "left it all on the field." During her lifetime, Joyce volunteered for the Westside & Ohio Nursery (where she was a past president), The Pleasure Guild, Childhood League, and Nationwide Children's Hospital. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church on Capitol Square serving on its Vestry, as a Junior Warden, and as a Sunday school teacher. There will be a private interment on the morning of June 5, 2021 at Green Lawn Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at the Columbus Club from 12noon-2pm. We invite all her friends near and far to come and share their love for Joyce. In remembrance, memorial gifts can be made to First Community Village Foundation, 1800 Riverside Dr., Columbus, Ohio 43212 or online at www.nationalchurchreseidences.org/donate. Arrangements by Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, where condolences may be sent to the family at www.schoedinger.com.
