Raymond Plummer Obituary

PLUMMER Dr. Raymond Guy Plummer. A private graveside service will be held at Wilson Cemetery for Dr. Raymond Guy Plummer, 96, of Newark, with Rev. Rick Rintamaa officiating. Dr. Plummer passed away November 23, 2007, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born February 16, 1911, in Lawshe, Ohio, to the late Irva and Olive (Storer) Plummer. Dr. Plummer was a 1929 graduate of Old North High School and a 1935 graduate of OSU College of Medicine. He was a member of Old North High Club; intern at Grant Hospital 1935-1936; physician at Ben Franklin TB Hospital 1936-1940, and he practiced medicine in Newark 1940-1985 primarily in the field of anesthesia. He was a member of numerous professional organizations, AOA, American Medical Association, OSMA, Ohio Anesthesia Association, Mason for 50 plus years, Simon Kenton Council of Boy Scouts of America for 50 plus years where he was Director of Health and Safety, also awarded Silver Beaver. He was a member of Central Christian Church. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Licking Memorial Hospital in October of 2003. He was very active in the YMCA. And he enjoyed polishing rocks and stargazing. He is survived by his daughter, Sally Ann Plummer of Columbus; nieces, Jodey Jenkins and Joyce Barker, both of Delaware; and his longtime friends, Helen Sweeney, Larry Evans, Jr. and Pam Peebles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth (Russell) Plummer, daughter Jane Plummer, brother John and sister Ruth. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at BRUCKER AND KISHLER FUNERAL HOME, 985 N. 21st St. Newark. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, Sally. Of course, Doc was so much a fabric of my young life. Coming to check on my dad everyday. He was so very dear and important to us. HE will be so missed. Love, Donna and Hani
