Michael Todd

1948 - 2025

Dr. Michael A. Todd, MD, JD was born in Memphis, TN on February 27, 1948. He passed away in the early hours of March 30, 2025 in Nashville, TN. He is survived by his wife Betsy Tindall Todd and children, Dr. Leslie E. Todd and Tindall Todd. Dr. Todd, senior, specialized as an anatomic & clinical pathologist and was licensed in both Mississippi and Tennessee. He practiced first in New Albany, MS for fourteen years before moving to the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS where he remained for twenty-six years as the medical director of the lab and, beginning in 2013, the acting fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Dr. Todd also earned a law degree from the University of Mississippi in 1986 for which he was also licensed in both Mississippi and Tennessee.

In preparation for his impressive career in law and medicine, Michael honed his ability to spread his interests and skills beginning early when he was in Catholic Junior High school in Memphis where he was in the band and played football and basketball. Moving forward into high school he was the senior class president and a member of the national honor society. At the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, he majored in math and graduated in 1965 before moving forward to medical school at University of Tennessee, Memphis where earned his medical degree with honors in 1975. He completed his residency at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where he also moonlighted in the emergency room.

Dr. Todd was a life-long learner who constantly pursued his passion for knowledge outside of formal education and his work environment as a voracious reader of non-fiction ranging in topics from math, the history of the United States and biographies, to books on animals. He was an ardent animal lover who cared for and nurtured many pets over the years. Most recently he rescued an abandoned Pitbull puppy off the side of a busy road who he named Wilbur, and who was his constant companion in Michael's final years. Michael shared generously in his love and praise and would give anything to those he loved. He was a fixture in the lives of his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
