Norman J. Gaudet
of Fitchburg, Korean War Vet; 82

FITCHBURG -- Norman J. Gaudet, 82, of Fitchburg, MA, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon December 21, 2015 in The Highlands with his family at his side.

Norman was born May 12, 1933 in Fitchburg, MA, the son of Albert and Eva (Legere) Gaudet. He was raised in Fitchburg, MA, and attended school in Fitchburg. In 1953, he was inducted in to the U.S. Army. He served in the Infantry during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955.

Norman worked as a backtender for the former Vogue Wall Coverings in Fitchburg, MA. He was the first person to be hired at the company. He worked there for 31 years retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Franco-American Club in Fitchburg, MA, and the Knights of Columbus Joseph P. Keating Council 99 in Fitchburg, MA. He enjoyed playing cards, mostly cribbage and scat with his friends and family. He was also a member of the Horsehoe League at St. Francis of Assisi Church where he was a communicant. Norman liked making people laugh with is many jokes and sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Jeannette (Trainque) Gaudet, his children. sons, Michael N. Gaudet of Fitchburg, MA, and Peter P. Gaudet of Leominster, MA; daughters, Denise M. Lucier and husband, David of Lunenburg, MA, Lisa J. Richard and husband, Lionel of Brevard, N.C., and Lorena C. Reinfurt and husband, Robert of Charlton, MA; one brother Roger Gaudet of Fitchburg, MA; five grandchildren, Jason and Nicholas Lucier, Nathan Reinfurt, Sarah and Ashley Richard; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Charlotte Lucier, and several nephews and nieces. He was pre-deceased by brothers, Emil and Hector, and sisters, Stella Bastarache and Bertha Martino.

GAUDET -- All relatives and friends are welcome to come celebrate Norman's life. A Mass of Christian burial and celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Sheridan St., Fitchburg, MA. His burial will be in Massachusetts Veteran's Cemetery, Winchendon, MA at a later date. The visitation for Norman will be on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-9908.

R.I.P. Uncle Norman. You were one of the funniest people I ever knew. My kids always referred to you as "Big Foot" because of the giant clown shoes you used to wear at the family gatherings. I am sure you will be missed by all who knew you. Tell my Dad I said Hi !
