I played for Coach Hummer only one year. As a young student athlete I had difficulty with maturity. But that one year I still think of how great a coach he is and his personality I talk about to this day. My regret is not finishing my football career at FC.

Coach Hummer was an assistant coach at Martinsville when I played. He hired me in 1977 to be a teacher and assistant football coach at Fountain Central HS. More than football he taught me how to be a man. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to have played for and coached with him.

I am thankful Dale hired me and I went with him to DeKalb and helped win the 4A State Championship. He allowed me to call the defense without telling me what to do.
He was a very good man and football coach that I enjoyed working with.
