Melissa and Girls,
It has been many years since we have spoken, but today when I learned of Barry's death I was stopped in my tracks. I remember when you two started dating, then married and then started your wonderful family. From the start I knew Barry was a solid man that you would share a wonderful life with. I am so sorry for your loss, but know God has a reason for all he does and his plan is perfect. My prayer now is for your comfort, understanding and strength during this hard time.
May our wonderful Lord and Savior bless and watch over you and your family.

We met in the second grade, became best friends till we graduated Byrnes. We grew up together, about all the time, from swimming the Tyger Rivers, Diving out of big trees, building a mini speed boat, sinking it in Lake Lanier at Tryon, sking at Lyman Lake with Craig, Barry would start sking from the roof of a boathouse, fishing with big Marvin, learning everything about cars with his big brother Marvin, exploring every railroad track around Duncan and way beyond, you go to jail for that now. Skating a million rounds at Westwood Skating Rink, doing 13 circles around the Reidville Road traffic circle with 2'girls with us, in his MG, rolling over his 39' chevy in a field, while sitting on milk crates, taking the motor out of Marvins car, while he was out of town, and putting it in the old 57 truck he blew up.
Barry said it will be OK, turns out not OK with Marvin, LOL. The biggest connection was music, we took Band together from the 7th grade, we both loved it, Barry was always the number one Drummer in Band from the start, till Stage Band we played in for Mr. Fike at Byrnes, where he was the force that got us through, Miss Marions dance recital every year, and the Black Shriners from Spartanburg. We played and loved the old big banx music. Always talked together about how much we enjoyed that part of our musical life.
I will miss you forever my old friend, I looked at a pair of Vice grips in the Shop yesterday, lost it, thinking of you driving a go kart in my backyard with a pair, after breaking the steering wheel, and landing in the pool hole in our back yard. Nothing topped you flying down N. Moore st, across Our front yard, jumping the hill on Kathy's little bike, the front tire fell off soon as you left the groud, flew about 30 feet,.landed , really stuck it, rolled over the handle bars all the way to the ditch.
Mr. Groce and the Boy Scouts, we did 50 miles on the Appalachian trail 4-5'times, but the same section everytime, LOL always wanted to keep going, that was your nature, and what made you so special.
Yes, we lived a wild childhood, illegal in these times maybe, but we grew up pure Duncan and Rebel Proud. Miss you so bad, but know where you are and will see you again one day. You could always find The old Marshall Tucker guys up there and make music till I get there. Are the Streets really made of Gold? Maybe this ol Prospector will finally hit it big, LOL Love ya Brother!!

We at A.L. Industries will miss Barry more than he could have ever believed. He was more than a salesman to us, He was our friend, his stories of his family and his childhood of how he loved his community and especially his mother and wife. I still find it hard to picture a world without his smile or his voice on my voice mail saying " Hey this is Barry " and all the while he never knew I already knew who it was without him needing to say his name his voice said it all. he was a humble man and will be so missed by so many...But Barry you did your Job buddy, and it wasn't selling office supplies ..it was leaving an impression on everyone you came in contact with from telling me about your family to telling me how you became to accept Christ into your heart many years ago you can leave this world behind knowing that you came here and fulfilled your purpose. not many can say that . But certainly you are one that can
