Paul Joseph Palmese Jr.

Paul J. Palmese Jr., of Berlin, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved wife and daughters on August 3, 2021. Paul was born in New Britain, CT on January 3, 1942 son of the late Madeline (Esernia) and Paul J Palmese Sr. He lived in Southington for most of his life, eventually retiring in Berlin. His favorite pastime was golfing, having Friday lunches with his friends and spending time at his daughter's beach house surrounded by his grandchildren. Paul was an active member of many social clubs including a lifelong member of The New Britain Elks Lodge-957, and remained close to all his high school friends. Paul served proudly in the United State's Army at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, and was honorably discharged as a Spec 4. He then transferred to Army Reserves and served in 76th Division in West Hartford. He was a member of the Local Laborer's Union and worked as a project manager on many construction sites throughout CT. He eventually retired as a Judicial Marshal from the New Britain Superior Court. Paul was predeceased by his first wife, Ann, daughter, Beth-Ann Moore, and brother Anthony (Tony) Palmese. He is survived by his wife, Mary Rose (Flaherty) Palmese, his two daughters, Paula Nappi and her husband Michael, and Lisa Palmese both of Southington. Also surviving him, his brother Joseph Palmese and wife Penelope of Avon, CT, son-in-law, Christian Moore and sister- in- law, Teddi Palmese. In addition, Mary Rose's siblings; Frank and Joni Flaherty, James Flaherty, Patricia Flaherty and Peggy Flaherty-Prevost. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. The highlight of his life was when all of his grandchildren were together. Samantha, Jordyn and Mitchel Nappi, Nicholas and Rylee Gothberg, Raegan and Jackson Moore and Braydon Gothberg (great grandson) were taught by him the true values of family, love, and integrity. It was never an obligation, but was fulfillment as they thoroughly enjoyed their time with him. Services have been entrusted with Erikson-Hansen/ Porters Funeral Home 111 Chamberlain Hwy, Berlin, CT with calling hours on Monday August 9, 2021 from 5pm-8pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 183 Church Street in Newington on Tuesday August 10 at 10 A.M. followed by burial at St Thomas Cemetery in Southington.
