MICHAEL JOHN GRIFFIN JR.
1931-2018
Michael John "Mickey" Griffin, Jr. 87, of Houston went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 1, 2018 in Houston, Texas surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born April 24, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA., the oldest child of five to Michael John and Margaret Murphy Griffin. He grew up in Philadelphia and after graduating from high school served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Michael married Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Boyle Griffin of Philadelphia PA on June 28, 1958 and they have shared 60 wonderful years of marriage together.
Michael worked as a tax accountant for Kewanee Oil, Chevron and Shell Corporation until his retirement. After retirement, Betty and Michael formed Roman Builders for the purpose of building their dream home in Champions which provided many warm memories for their entire family. Michael was a loving husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to his family. Michael was a member TEI, and a strong supporter of Roman Catholic High School. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, traveling, and cooking amazing meals. Michael was a man of great faith and his life, love, character, strength and faith will live on in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss him!
Michael was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, James F. (Jim) Griffin, Joseph (Joe) P. Griffin and Edward (Eddie) C. Griffin; and his sister-in-laws, Joan Griffin, and Mary Boyle Ober. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Boyle Griffin, his Son: Michael J. Griffin III and wife Marilyn Aylene Otteman Griffin; his daughter, Betty Ann Griffin Drury and husband Jeffrey Alan Drury and his daughter, Linda Jane Griffin Dietert, all of Houston; his grandchildren, : Michael John Griffin IV, Christopher Alan Drury, Matthew Laurence Griffin, Elizabeth Ann Drury, Mackenzie Grace Griffin, Marilyn Brett Griffin, , Blake Elizabeth Dietert and Max Griffin Dietert; and his Sister, Margaret (Margie) T. Griffin, of Philadelphia, PA; his sisters-in-law, Patricia (Patty) O'Mara Griffin, Bella Boyle O'Neill and Judy Boyle, all of Philadelphia, PA; his brothers-in-law, Hugh (Hughie) Boyle and Joe O'Neill, of Philadelphia, PA. and many nieces and nephews.
The Visitation will be Wed., June 13, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Klein Funeral Home (16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, Texas 77379). A Rosary will precede the Visitation beginning at 5:20 p.m.
The Funeral Mass will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at St. Ignatius Community Catholic Church (7810 Cypresswood Dr., Spring, Texas 77379) with Rev. Norbert Maduzia as celebrant. An inurnment with Military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Houston National Cemetery (10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038).
In Lieu of Flowers, those desiring may direct memorial contributions in honor of Michael "Mickey" J. Griffin, Jr. to Roman Catholic High School, Alumni Association, 301 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107. (215.627-5487)

We were blessed to know Mike for the past several years living on the lake. He always brought laughter to all the get togethers we shared. What a wonderful man who we will dearly miss.
