Chloe Shurbet Obituary

Chloe Shurbet
December 12, 2000 - February 6, 2021
Boise, Idaho - Chloe Marie Shurbet passed away at the young age of twenty. In that short time she brought joy to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Chloe lived life to the fullest and set an example for us all. Though she had health challenges she did not let that stop her from accomplishing whatever she set her mind to. In elementary school when she had a compromised immune system she told her doctor she wanted to go back to school. Her doctor thought it was risky and Chloe should wait until the next year. That was not Chloe's plan so she "convinced" him that she would be fine. He compromised, at her returning part time, as if he really had a choice. At her next appointment she "convinced" him she was fine and could go back full time. He compromised by "agreeing" with her as if he really had a choice. She missed over a year of school but it didn't slow her down or stop her from graduating from Meridian High with her class. Chloe was inpatient at St Luke's Hospital when Andy Grammer came to visit the kids cancer ward. Again, determined to meet her goal of seeing him she held off dialysis until he performed his hit "Keep Your Head Up" for her in her room. She always had a great attitude about life and kept her head up. Chloe needed a kidney transplant and knew she would get one. After a year of nightly dialysis, someone she didn't initially know, Christy Holmes, was a perfect match and generously gave Chloe a kidney. They remain "Kidney Sisters." Chloe used the kidney to go on to achieve many other goals, not the least of which was a driver's license. If you ever rode with Chloe, you know she didn't slow down, even when the car she was driving was "only a four cylinder." Chloe's last year with us was hard on her. A tumor in her pineal gland was removed Christmas 2019 however a side effect was diminished vision. Even then she didn't complain about what she couldn't do, rather figured out what she could and did it! During 2020 she "listened to her body" and decided to stop chemo treatments. She went back in to St Luke's, Christmas 2020 due to an infection. February 2021, she left her physical body behind so that her spirit could soar. She is an inspiration to all who were privileged to have spent time with her. She shared her joy and brilliant light with us. She lives on in our hearts and our memories. Her time here was far too short. We honor her memory by following her example, find the joy, achieve your goals no matter the challenge and soar to great heights. Chloe attended Camp Rainbow Gold each summer and is now watching over us from somewhere over the rainbow.
Chloe is remembered and survived by her sisters, Kiyah, Lanie and Cierra, her mom Rachel and fiancé Justin, her dad AJ and fiancé Jocelyn as well as her grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Chloe was an inspiration. For the times I was at the Shurbet house, I was always smiling with her. She constantly reminded me to love life and the people around me. There isn’t a single day that passes that I don’t think about her and I wish I could’ve seen her more. I know she’s protecting us all and reminding us that life doesn’t last long so we got to enjoy everything we can

Chloe and her family are an inspiration to anyone facing serious health issues. I will try to honor her memory by living in the same manner. Counting on her spirit to guide me to those places. God bless you all and keep her memory bright in your lives.

No way will I forget anything we did together but the one I will miss the most was all of the sister dates that she took Kiyah and I on. All the people we would watch and laugh at. Not going to forget those days.
