Raymond W. Sanden
August 17, 1932 - July 24, 2021
Raymond W. Sanden passed away peacefully in Overland Park, KS, early Saturday morning on July 24. Ray was born on August 17, 1932, in Lincoln, NE, to Walter and Verna (Balster) Sanden. Ray had many interests and was a talented craftsman, wood carver, artist, and writer. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had interesting stories to tell. He enjoyed traveling, local history, keeping up with new technology and online social media and networking.
Ray was a lifelong resident of Lincoln until his move last month to Overland Park. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. He attended the University of Nebraska. Ray met his wife Lois at the Central Electric and Gas Company, where they both worked. They were married shortly thereafter on June 12, 1954. Ray worked in retail sales for many years, selling major appliances and serving customers at Golds and Brandeis department stores, Christenson's TV & Appliance Store and Ernie's in Ceresco.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 61 years, Lois (Butler) Sanden; and three sisters Dorothy Lee, Marian Hansen, and Carol Sanden. Ray is survived by his son, David (Brenda) along with grandsons, Eric and Adam of Redding, CA; and son, Richard (Cindy) along with granddaughters Delaina and Faye of Overland Park, KS.
Viewing on Monday, August 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Butherus Maser and Love Funeral Home (4040 A St.) in Lincoln. Chapel Remembrance on Tuesday, August 10, from 9 to 11 a.m. Graveside service at 11:30 a.m. at Wyuka Cemetery (3600 O St.) in Lincoln. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
