Erika Marie Binns April 24, 1989- May 15, 2005 MARIETTA, GA— Erika Marie Binns, 16, of 1375 John Ward Rd., Marietta, formerly of 194 Cherokee Circle, Cedartown, died Sunday, May 15 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Erika, the daughter of Dr. Michael J. and Susan Black Binns, was born in Rome on April 24, 1989 and lived in Cedartown prior to moving to Marietta with her family in 2004. Erika entered Darlington School as a Pre-Kindergarten student and was concluding her Sophomore year at the school at the time of her death. A varsity cheerleader, she was a member of Blaylock House, and was a freshman representative on the Homecoming Court. In addition to cheerleading and gymnastics, she participated for many years in Creative Playhouse Children's Theatre Company. She was affiliated with St. James Episcopal Church, and during the summer of 2004, attended Leadership University, Washington, D.C. Erika will be joyfully remembered for her devotion to her family and friends. She was vibrant and fun-loving, adventurous and determined, loyal, energetic and dependable, and was deeply committed to the people and activities she loved. She lived each day to the very fullest, as if it might be her last. Her 16 year old passions were friends, parties, driving and independence; and interacting with those she loved fed her soul. Erika believed in and demonstrated being the vest best friend she could possibly be; and she deeply treasured all of the young women and men who were friends to her. In addition to her parents, Erika is survived by her sister and best friend, Katherine (Katie) Binns of Miami, FL; grandparents, C.P. Black, Sr., and Alice K. Binns, both of Columbus; and by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service celebrating the life of Erika Marie Binns will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday in Morris Chapel, Darlington School, with the Rev. Dr. G. Donald Black officiating. The family requests that guests honor Erika's spirit by wearing favorite, colorful clothing. A reception will follow at the Home-on-the-Hill.
