Joseph Wade Obituary

Joseph Albert Wade, Jr.

November 15, 1943 - April 25, 2024

Montgomery, Alabama - Joseph Albert Wade Jr., 80, of Montgomery, AL, passed away April 25, 2024 peacefully at his residence.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 PM, Saturday, May 18, 2024 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 113 Madison Ave, Montgomery, AL 36104 with The Rev. Dr. Duncan Johnston officiating.

Al was born November 15, 1943 in Columbus, GA to the late Joseph "Bubber" Albert Wade Sr. and Ann Wright Wade. A graduate of the University of Georgia (UGA), Al earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and was in Kappa Alpha Order. He was also on UGA gymnastics team. Professionally, Al excelled in the real estate and mortgage industry. He was a key figure in the Alabama mortgage sector, serving as the Broker of Alabama Mortgage and Director of the Alabama Mortgage Brokers Association. Al's leadership extended to his role as President-elect of the Alabama Brokers Association, President of Dallas/Fort Worth chapter CAI, President of Phenix City Home Builders Association, and President of the Capital City Optimist Club in Montgomery.

AL was known for his generous spirit and devotion to helping others. He found joy in giving back to the community, including donating a house in his daughter's name. His kindness and passion for assisting people in finding homes they could cherish was a testament to his caring nature. Those who knew him will remember not only his charitable acts but also his fun-loving personality that brightened the lives of those around him.

Al's legacy of kindness and generosity continues to inspire those who knew him. His decision to donate a house to a church for a needy family exemplifies his selflessness and dedication to helping others in need. Throughout his life, he prioritized the well-being and happiness of others above all else, showing that material possessions were not as important as the impact he could make on someone's life. Mr. Wade's actions serve as a powerful reminder that true fulfillment comes from the love and compassion we share with others, and that he will always be remembered for the joy and support he brought into the lives of those around him.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Eve Shanna Wade of Birmingham. He is survived by his wife, Nan Riley Wade, and his brother, Wright Wade, sisters, Ann Eatman, Beth David, and their families.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Johns Episcopal Church in memory of Al Wade.

I am so saddened to hear this news about my first Boss, Al. He and his wonderful wife Nan were life changing to me, as during a turning point age (16!) they each taught me different lessons about not only the mortgage and business world, but about life in general. God bless Nan and take care of Al in your Home.
Love,
Jenni
