Anthony Cortese

Anthony Cortese, 58, passed away on December 2, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield, MA on March 23, 1962 to Dora (DePergola) Cortese and the late Tommaso Cortese, he was a graduate of Agawam High School.
Tony served as the Vice President for the family business, T&R Wholesale Foods in Feeding Hills. He loved traveling, spending time in South Yarmouth at the family home and taking winter vacations at Deerfield Beach in FL. Tony was a member of the Suffield Country Club Tennis Club and the Dante Club, where he played bocce. He enjoyed watching the New England Patriots with his friends and family by his side.
Tony was happiest when surrounded by his many close friends and family members. A devoted husband, father, brother, son, uncle and friend, all who knew Tony loved him for his warmth, his laughter, his insightful advice, big heart, and generous spirit. Tony treasured his time with his mother and his siblings, gathering to enjoy his mother’s cooking for lunch a few days a week.
Besides his father, he was predeceased by his nephew and niece Tommy and Angelina Cortese. To cherish his memory, Tony leaves his loving wife Kathy Cortese of Suffield; his sons Michael Cortese and his significant other Brittany Randall and Joe Cortese all of Agawam; his daughter Mia Cortese of Suffield; his mother Dora Cortese; his brother Dominick J. Cortese and his wife Kathy; his sister Maria Kajka and her husband John; his nephew and niece Matthew and Sophia Kajka; his great nephew Dominick Cortese as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Tony will be remembered for his unconditional support of the people in his life, for his talent for turning strangers into friends, and for the love he brought into the world with his heartfelt words and good deeds.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 8:00 – 9:30 AM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Main Street, Agawam with committal services to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum, St. Michael Cemetery, State Street, Springfield.
