I worked with Bob many years ago at Texas Rehab. He was one of the funniest men I ever knew! While I have not seen him in a very long time, I know that he did not change much from the guy I knew way back when. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Dear Susie, I am sorry to hear about Bob. He was a great person to know. When I first started at LMS working with Special Ed. He made me feel at home. He was a constant encourager to me when I need him. I met you at LHS a few years later. I was in one of your cooking classes with a student. You are a wonderful person. I will always think of you and Bob. My prayers are with you and your family.
Love,

MY Deepest Sympathy goes out to Bob's Family. I did not learn of Bob's passing until my Brother told me. Bob and I went to school and played sports together. I shall deeply miss him and I will cherish fond memories of those by gone school days.

When I came to Dunbar's 7th grade campus in 1996, one of the first individuals that introduced themselves to me was Bob. Before our conversation was over, we were interrupted by a young boy who needed to speak with Bob. I immediately knew that Bob had a rapport with students whom some of us might not be able to reach. Those first impressions proved to be truer than I ever imagined. I was also blessed to work with Bob at Lufkin Middle School at its original opening. Again, he bonded with kids whom others of us in the helping profession could not reach. He just projected something so very "real" to children in need. When I went to the Alternative Center, Bob was assigned to work with students there on a once a week basis. For this six year period, Bob came to Alternative every Friday. His students knew what day he would be there. He talked with some in groups, he counseled with others individually. I never ceased to be amazed at the rapport he established with his students. I saw Bob "in action" while working with children. Bob never wanted any public recognition for the personal strides he made with children. I saw the work he accomplished with children for 12 year in a row. I stand in awe. I find it quite a shame that these types of accolades are not brought to public attention until someone is deceased. What a pity that we wait to tell others how valuable that they are. But, I do find comfort in knowing that I expressed to Bob how grateful I truly was to him for helping me so many years with children in the realm of counseling. I find solace in knowing that he knew that I was grateful to him and that I respected his professional expertise with difficult students. There was a great depth about him that became quite visible while he worked with students. Bob just never needed public acknowledgement of his accomplishments with students. He never boasted of his work, he never betrayed a student's confidence, and he never talked of his accomplishments. He did not need acknowledgement from supervisors or co-workers as to the value of his work. Students' gratification was all he ever needed. And,Bob received that acknowledgement from many, many students. In closing, I will repeat the same sentiments of those of Keith Bailey at Bob's funeral. There was never a man who loved his wife any more than Bob loved Susie. For that reason, I respected Bob as much as any man I ever knew.

Susie,
Bob was a unique individual. He lived and enjoyed his life to the fullest. He always had a funny hunting or fishing story, and wherever he went had lots of friends around him. He will be missed by the kids, staff, and parents. May the Good Lord be with you and comfort you.

I will truly miss Bob. He was such a joy to work with and a wonderful friend. The ARD meetings will never be the same without his great sense of humor. My heart breaks for Susie for her loss. He was crazy about her. He always called her, "One classy lady." My favorite thing about Bob was how genuine of a man he was. There was nothing fake or phony about him. What you saw is what you got. And believe me, what you got was a wonderful man. He will truly be missed.

Please know that I am holding you close to my heart and have been over the past several months while you and Bob battled on. Dear Susie and April: I have had the privilege of knowing the three of you for almost 20 years. We will miss Bob a lot; I have heard some of the best and funniest stories about him today, and I will always remember how great he was to work with, what a concerned parent he was when talking about April, and how much he loved Susie. Bob has blessed many lives. My heartfelt sympathy goes to Susie, April and Trina. I worked with Bob at Jr. Hight East and West many years ago. He was always very respectful and so polite to all of his students. I don't need to tell you that his family was first in his life. April, I remember you as a beautiful little girl and how your daddy adored you. You and Starla were friends for a very long time in elementary school. Trina, you and I worked together for a while at Hackney back in the early 70's. You are such a precious and sweet sister. Susie, my girls had you in school, Starla and Shelby Sorrell. Bob was so blessed to have you in his life. God Bless you all and in the days to follow.

My heartfelt sympathy is sent to you and your family. I had the privilege of working with Bob at LMS for 6 years. I moved out of town last March, but enjoyed visiting with him when I would return to the school periodically. He always had a smile on his face and a pleasant "Hello" to share! It was obvious how much he cared for the students he worked with. We will all miss Bob, but will cherish the wonderful memories he leaves with us. God bless and comfort you all during this difficult time.
