DR. BRITTANY MAULDIN

Dr. Brittany Mauldin Larkin, age 38, went home to live with her Lord and Savior on September 4, 2017 after a 7-month battle with cancer.
Brittany was born on January 4, 1979 in Winter Haven, Florida, raised in Fort Pierce, before relocating and spending the next 23 years in Gainesville, Florida. Brittany completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Early Childhood Education from the University of Florida. She then went on to teach ESE students at Sidney Lanier Center for 8 years before going back to earn her Ph.D in Education Leadership, also from the University of Florida, Go Gators! In 2015, the family moved to Auburn, Alabama where Brittany worked for Auburn University in the College of Education's Department of Educational Foundations, Leadership, and Technology, War Eagle! Brittany served on the Board of Advisors for the National Education Finance Academy and was a Board member for the Council for Exceptional Children. Brittany had many publications, including her most recent publication in Winter 2017 in the Journal of Education Finance, right before she got sick. In January 2016, Brittany was one of just ten American scholars to be recognized for distinguished research in education finance.
Brittany was a loving daughter, sister, wife, educator, and mother of two incredible children (Jacob and Reese).
Brittany is survived by her husband of 16 years, Scott; 2 children, Jacob and Reese; her fur baby, Marley; a sister, Brandi of Opelika, Alabama; a sister/cousin, Amy of Land O'Lakes, Florida; a cousin, Jeff of Bell, Florida; and her parents, Kim and Lee Mauldin of Lake Park, Georgia.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home in Opelika, Alabama on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. (visitation from 1-2:00 p.m.). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Brittany's name to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society of America (http://www.lls.org/) or to a scholarship that will be created in Brittany's name through Auburn University, (details not finalized yet).

I am very sorry for your lost. I cant imagine how heartbreaking it is to lose a loved one for you, but its uplifting to know that God promises us in Isaiah 65:17 a near future in which not only we wont feel this pain in our hearts when we lose a loved one, but we wont even remember how it felt.

Scott, you always knew that our love and affection for you ran wide and deep and always will. We remember Brittany's Ph.D celebration party, her truly lovely family AND her proud husband. She accomplished so much with you as the wind beneath her wings. I know that Jim has welcomed her In her new beautiful and peaceful abode. Most importantly, I know that only the love is real. Take heart, Scott, you and your children are surrounded by love here as she is also.
