In Memoriam: Carlinda Pierce

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carlinda Pierce, who passed away on October 25, 2023, in Tampa, Florida. Born on December 3, 1959, Carlinda's life was a testament to love, strength, and unwavering faith.

Carlinda was a woman of remarkable character, known for her faith, humor, kindness, and generosity. Her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter brought joy to all who had the privilege of crossing her path. She possessed a natural athleticism and creative flair, which she embraced wholeheartedly throughout her life. She had a deep affection for animals, frequently encountering strays she couldn't resist adopting or caring for.

Carlinda is survived by her children, Rhiannan Pierce of Jasper, TN, Genesis Crowley and Dylan Crowley both of Tampa, FL; her mother, Maria (Margot) Pierce of Tampa, FL; her siblings, Tony Pierce (Wanda) of Camden Wyoming, DE, Maria Payne (Jay) of Whiting, NJ, and Linda Parham (Jeff) of Tampa, FL; her granddaughter, Lorimer, nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous friends and her rescue dog, Becky MinPin.

Carlinda was preceded in death by her husband, Gary E. Levasseur, her father, Nathaniel Pierce, and her brother, Marcus (Nicky) Pierce. Their memories will forever be etched in our hearts, as we honor their legacies alongside Carlinda's.

Educated at Pemberton High School in Burlington County, NJ, Carlinda pursued a career as a fitness instructor, inspiring countless individuals to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle. Her unique approach to fitness was featured in an article in the June 28, 1989 edition of the Tampa Bay Times. Her dedication and passion for her craft were evident in the lives she touched and the positive impact she made.

Deeply rooted in her faith, Carlinda found solace and guidance at the end of her life within the Forest Hills congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Tampa, FL. Her spiritual journey was a source of strength and comfort, guiding her through life's challenges with unwavering resolve, notably her courageous battle with terminal cancer. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care and treatment Carlinda received at Tampa General Cancer Center.

A memorial service, befitting the life and legacy of Carlinda Pierce, will be held on January 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM. The event will take place on Zoom, hosted by the Forest Hills Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Tampa, FL. In honor of Carlinda's memory, contributions can be made to jw.org, an organization that held a special place in her heart.

During this difficult time, the compassionate team at Tampa Cremation, located in Tampa, FL, is providing support and guidance to Carlinda's family as they navigate final arrangements.

Carlinda Pierce's passing has left an indescribable void in the lives of all who loved and knew her. May she rest in peace in God's memory until she along with her husband, father, brother and many other loved ones are called out of the memorial tombs - John 5:28, 29. May her memory continue to inspire and uplift us all.

My first memory of her? I knew when I met Carlinda in the 5th grades (she argued "3rd) that I wanted to be her friend. We laughed at each others jokes; we couldn't stop it. Through the years that followed, we were besties, room-mates, co-students, coworkers and all around partners in crime; like when we locked ourselves out of our house in the middle of the night. We shared a huge over-torn bag of cheese-doodles while I "borrowed" a fork from a messy neighbor's yard because there wasn't a butter knife laying around. We then managed to fork and cheese-doodle coat our way through the bathroom window without harm. We were cracking up the whole time because the cheese-doodles were everywhere, she said because "they were breeding". Then the next one she pulled out had another hooked to it, so we lost it some more.
Oh my forever friend, I love you and miss you so much, and hope to laugh with you again. I'll be praying that your family, including your mini-pin, can cope during this extremely heart wrenching and difficult time. Meanwhile, rest in peace ol'buddy.

I remember Carlinda having a positive spirit and a beautiful smile! Only spoken to her once or twice but she left an impression on me. May she rests beautifully in Jehovah's memory

My sister and I had fun growing up together along with our big sister and two brothers. I look forward to seeing my sister and brother in the promised earthly paradise that they so longed for.
