I can only assume that this is the Carol Sue Loudenback who was my best friend at Leach Elementary School. We were cheerleaders together and also had the honor of selling candy at lunch time. :-) I moved to Alexandria as an 8th grader, attended Cunningham School and Alexandria HS, and subsequently graduated from IU Bloomington.

I consider myself blessed to have known Carol Sommers since the late 70s.
I remember Carol and her family receiving the Music Award at Union United Church some years ago. At the time, it was obvious Carol and Dean and their daughters Susan and Cindy were very close and obviously enjoyed being together. Carol was a woman of God: God first, family second, friends third. I never remember her having anything but a positive attitude.
There are many verses about women which personify Carol, I think this one will serve as comfort in the days ahead for Carol's family and friends:
Proverbs 31:25, KJV Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. Carol is more alive than she ever has been and she is rejoicing in song. I know without a doubt, Carol will be welcoming all her friends and family who will join her sometime in the days ahead.

I knew Carol for many years through our shared interest in quilting. She was one of the kindest and most joyful people I've ever known. She will be missed so much by her friends and I know so much more by her family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Carol was one of the kindest people I knew. I will always treasure our time together with the Lady Bees and the quilting road trips we shared. I have no doubt she is in the presence of God and I pray this may bring her family peace.

Aunt Carol always had such a sunny disposition. Once when playing with Suzy & Cindy in Grandma's back yard, I saw Mom & Dad & Aunt Carol & Uncle Dean sitting around on lawn chairs, talking interminably (as grownup are wont to do). I remember thinking that Dad & Uncle Dean had done pretty well for themselves...

Carol was always full of laughter and such a joy to be around. I had the privilege of being in the Lady Bees Quilt group with her. Those are some of my fondest memories. I know Heaven is full of songs, laughter and quilts because she is there. My thoughts and prayers are with Dean and the family. Sharon Hawes, Cayce SC
