Clifford Ens Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 16 to Feb. 19, 2011.
Clifford Maurice Ens the youngest of 7 children was born on July 28, 1939 in Garthland, SK. We can only imagine the greeting that awaited his arrival in Glory on February 15, as he joined his parents Frank and Mary Ens, brothers Frank, Art, Ed and sister, Elsie Thun, infant sisters Laura and Gloria and brothers-in-law Con Martens and Les Thun. We who remain here for now will hold his memory close in our hearts: Ethel, whose privilege it was to be his wife for 48 years, son Brad (Jackie) Nicole and Cassidy, son Cam (Joanne) Kristine and Ryley; sister Gladys Martens, brother Lawrence (Isabel), sister-in-law Mildred and many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins; In Ethel's family, special cousins Darla Neufeld and her family and Garry (Sharon) and Grant Neufeld. Cliff inherited a keen business sense from his father and began working at the early age of 17. At age 18 he began his career with the Saskatoon Co-op Assoc. He soon became the manager of the dept and introduced Saskatoon to the first self-serve gas stations. In the late 1970's he ventured out with his brother Ed to form Ens Construction. During this time he gained valuable experience and knowledge which he was able to further use in the mid 90's as he became a business consultant with the Federal Business Development Bank. In the next phase of his career, it was his special privilege to work closely with his son Cam for a Medicine Hat based company, supervising the construction of the Sierras of Erindale and other large projects. Gradually he began to settle into semi-retirement, maintaining an office at Bethany Manor while also serving on the board there. He had the vision for a long term care facility being incorporated into the Bethany Manor complex and was instrumental in getting the wheels in motion for that plan. In 1971 during a Crusade with the Sutera Twins he made the life changing decision to accept Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. As in Acts 11:14 He will bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved, his family followed in this decision. We were so blessed as a family to have a husband, father, grandfather who was dedicated to the Lord and to his family. He cared deeply. He was a provider, protector, totally unselfish and ultimately generous. He was an example in his faith, believing you could not out give God. If you gave to God first, He would give to you in return so that not only would your needs be met but your cup of blessing would be filled to overflowing. We will miss you so much our beloved, but we rejoice in knowing that our good bye is not final. Special Thanks to: Staff at Circle Drive Care Home for their loving care and compassion; Pastor Dave & Joanne Peters for helping to hold us up on this difficult part of our journey; Our church family and our circle of friends for their love and prayers; Gladys Martens for an 'always available shoulder to cry on'; Isabel Enns for lovingly keeping the night watch with us; Colleen Dalsiede for walking beside us with insight and support. In Cliff's memory, donations may be made to Circle Drive Special Care Home or Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church. There will be a 'come and go' public viewing Monday from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church. The Memorial Service will be Tuesday, February 22nd at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church, 111 Witney Ave. N., Saskatoon, SK. Arrangements in care of MARTENS WARMAN FUNERAL HOME (934-4888).
