David Bosch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 26, 2024.
David Herman Bosch, age 83, died on June 17, 2024, after seven years of battling Multiple Myeloma and after seven months on Hospice care. He died peacefully at home tended by his family.

David retired from United Parcel Service in1993, then started Bosch Saw Sharpening and Bosch Precision Cutlery Services. The latter grew to include sharpening, repairing and selling fine cutlery at farmers' markets, wineries and restaurants in the greater Bay Area for over twenty five years. In his later years, his favorite Farmer's Market was the Petaluma East Side Market, where he brought his dog Daisy every Tuesday morning.

David was born, April 12, 1941, in San Rafael and grew up hunting and fishing on the San Pablo Bay. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Petaluma. He was an enthusiastic friend of Bill W., serving as a sponsor to many over his 45 years of sobriety, and he was an avid member of Alanon. He was well known for his folk art birdhouses and whirligigs which are now spread over four states and Northern California. Dave loved people. He knew most of his neighborhood, greeting everyone as he walked his dogs, Daisy and Sweety daily.

David was beloved by his family and friends. He cherished his family with all his heart. He totally adored and participated in each of his grandchildren's lives from the day they each were born and lived to proudly watch them start successful lives and careers of their own. He saw Jazmyne develop a thriving business as a hair stylist, he saw Kyle graduate from Arizona State University and start his first job with the Milwaukee Brewers, and he saw Iris graduate from Petaluma High to begin University of Colorado this Fall. Being Grandpa to these three brought him such joy and gratitude.

Dave is survived by his wife of thirty years, Nancy Lucienne Burke, his children Gary Bosch, of Hilo, Hawaii and Heidi Bosch, of Penngrove, his children by marriage, Joe McCormick, of Montegue and Amy Taylor, of Petaluma, his son-in-law, Joe Orcutt, his granddaughter, Iris Bosch, his grandchildren by marriage, Jazmyne Taylor and Kyle Taylor, and his brothers Dennis Bosch (Vicki) of Brown's Valley and Fred Bosch (Kim) of San Rafael. Dave's beloved son, James Bosch, predeceased him in June of 2023.

There will be a Memorial Service for Dave on October 5, 2024, Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 40 Fifth Street, Petaluma, Ca.

The family asks that instead of flowers you donate to the American Cancer Society.

He was always encouraged me when ever we'd talk. Grateful member of Ala non together. Helped me get through the tough part of knee surgery - always smiling upon greeting - terrific memory - gave my husband lots of love. What a guy - so happy our paths crossed. Connie Prim
