David Alfred Platte of Port St. Lucie, Florida, died on February 10, 2023, at the age of 80. He was born in Westphalia, Michigan on June 10, 1942, to Roman and Cecilia Platte. He attended St. Mary School in Westphalia and was elected class president. He was married to Judith Ann Platte for 36 years and spent the better part of his life living in Michigan, before retiring in Traverse City from Safeco/American States Insurance and making Florida his permanent home.

He was an Evangelical Christian, claiming Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was a lifelong Republican. He enjoyed movies, gardening, and fishing; was a geography and WWII history buff; was a tech junkie that always had a camera on hand; loved the Beach Boys, Glenn Miller, and polka; and was a longtime Notre Dame football fan. His greatest joy was his children and grandchildren.

David is survived by his 8 children, Kristin Small (Brian Small), Jill Platte (Paul Furr), Erik Platte, Sally Robertson (Edward Robertson), Jakki Hanna (Jess Hanna), Geoffrey Platte (Amelia Platte), Aimee Johnson (Brent Johnson), and Gregory Platte; 28 grandchildren, Shayne, Brittnee, Autumn, Kirstin, Chandler, Ayden, Abigail, Hannah, Maya, Jeremy, Karissa (Solon), Faithlyn, Connor, Ellen, Gibson, Caleb, Charlotte, Kimberly, Samantha, Jonathan, Alexander, Penelope, Natalie, Olive, Rowan, Margaret, Lillian, and Cyrus; great-grandchildren, Tucker, and Alice; brothers, Thomas Platte (Kathy Platte) and Dennis Platte (Lucy Platte); was predeceased by his sister, Carol Spitzley (Pete Spitzley); and leaves behind his partner, Jacklyn Orlando.

A memorial service will be held in honor of David on April 8, 2023, at 11 am, at the Center Eaton Community Center. Address: 2093 Narrow Lake Road Charlotte, MI 48813.

I miss you, Dad. Even with being sick, I still can't believe you are really gone. I've known you my whole life. Grateful for the years we had together and look forward to when I "burn my boots" and reunite in Glory.
