DONALD JAMESON Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 27 to Dec. 29, 2013.
JAMESON
DONALD M. "DJ", Jr.
Passed away on Christmas night, following a seven year battle with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). DJ was born in Pittsburgh on November 25, 1941, as the oldest child of Donald M. Jameson, Sr. "Jamo" and Evelyn Tschappat. He graduated from Edgewood High School, received his engineering mechanics degree from Penn State and his MBA from Duquesne University. DJ was married to his soulmate, Sandra Kay Daw on February 8, 1964. DJ spent his entire, and very successful, career working at U.S. Steel, first as an engineer with the American Bridge division, and ultimately retiring as the Tubular Products Manager. He was a renaissance man and had many passions, including painting, model railroading, golfing, woodworking, running, rooting for his Pittsburgh sports teams, biking, tai chi, vacationing in North Litchfield Beach, SC, and volunteer work (Meals on Wheels and Auberle). DJ is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Sandy; along with his children, Hayley Jameson Napotnik of Wexford, PA (husband, Gary Napotnik) and D. Matthew Jameson III of Allison Park, PA (wife, Danelle Jameson); DJ is also survived by the six grandchildren he adored, Chloe, Trent, and Adam Napotnik, and Caitlin, Sarah and Declan Jameson; DJ is also survived by his sister, Lynn (husband, Ted Randall). He was preceded in death by his brother, Woody; and his sister, Jill. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to www.clearthoughtsfoundation.org, a charity founded by Hayley and Matt to raise money for drug discovery to cure dementia. Visitors will be received at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME OF CRANBERRY, 2678 Rochester Rd., 724-772-8800, on Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. and again on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3:30 p.m.

Sandy and family, we are so sorry for your loss and the pain of the last few years. Don was a true people person and the ultimate salesman. I'll always remember our times together with tubular customers and the way he worked with them. God be with you.

Good bye my good friend DJ. I will always remember you as my best friend during my years in Pittsburgh. How many games of backyard basketball did we play, and how many crazy golf memories? It is hard to believe that you are gone but the memories will last forever.
Sandy, you beautiful girl, all my sympathy to you at this hour of sorrow and all my best to you as you move forward from this tragedy.

I remember DJ very well from the mid and late 1940's, when we were kids growing up in the same apartment complex in Squirrel Hill. He was a high-spirited and obviously bright little guy from an exceptionally nice family. I remember his mother, Evelyn, as a particularly attractive lady, and I remember when his brother Woody was born. His father, Don, was always very helpful to and involved with the neighborhood kids, and it sounds like DJ was much the same. R.I.P.

Dear Sandy and Family,

You have our sympathies for the loss of DJ. He was a year ahead of me at FHJHS and EHS and I remember him as a smiling, happy guy and vigorous competitor on the football field.
