Eleonora A. Saari

Fitchburg-Eleonora A. (Wahlers) Saari, 89, died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after an illness. She was the wife of the late Tauno Saari who died on June 19, 1983. She leaves two sons and their wife’s Steven and Susan Saari of Ashby, Eric and Andrea Saari of Framingham, one daughter Jan Holm of Wareham, six grandchildren and their spouse’s Christopher Saari of Worcester, Derek Saari of Rindge, N.H., Kenneth and Ania Anderson of Westminster, CO., Matthew Saari and his fiancé Megan Scanlon of Natick, Lynnette Holm of Wareham, and Andrew Saari of Framingham, and many nieces and nephews. Eleonora is predeceased by her son-in-law William Holm, and one sister Margarethe G. Heider. She was born in Newark, N.J. on May 4, 1920 a daughter of the late Klaus and Meta Wahlers. She was a 1938 graduate of Rutherford, High School in Rutherford, N.J. She and her husband were the co-owners of the former Blake’s Pharmacy for 32 years. She also worked at the Fitchburg Public Library in the periodical section of the library. Eleonora was a longtime member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, and a former member of the choir. She loved gardening and was a member of the neighborhood sewing circle. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1200 John Fitch Highway, Fitchburg, MA 01420. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery, Old Richmond Road, Fitzwilliam, N.H.
