Emery Joseph Anderson

Emery Joseph Anderson of Omega, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on November 6, 1944 in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late Judson Harmon Anderson and Gladys Avanelle Glassburn Anderson. On October 15, 1977, he was united in marriage to Joan Marie Long Anderson who survives. He was the loving father to three daughters; Amanda Renee Anderson of Waverly, Nichole Marie Anderson, infant (1980), and Michele Denise Anderson of Brunswick, Maryland; He was the proud grandfather to four grandson, Ethan J. A. Lummer of Marion, Elijah D. A. Lummer of Waverly, Evan W. A. Lummer of Waverly and Jace H Massie of Waverly; sister, Avanelle Kathryn (Joe) Pennington of Waverly; sister in laws, Yvonne Anderson of Waverly, Cathy Clark of Waverly, Barb Long of Waverly and brother in law Tom (Rhonda) Long of Waverly. Joe loved each and every one of his many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and infant daughter Nichole Marie, Joe was preceded in death by four brothers; William (Virginia) Anderson, Wilbur "Dutch" (Beatrice) Anderson, Walter "Frank" (Mary) Anderson, Woodrow Anderson; brother in laws, Lyle Clark and Bob Long.

Joe was Waverly graduate of 1963. Joe was raised on a farm and even though it was work, he cherished every memory. After high school he was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Germany protecting the land that he loved. He made many friends over the years working construction for Haubeil's and Sons Inc., Mead Woodlands and retiring from the Ohio Department of Transportation. Joe was a member of the American Legion Post 142 where he was the former commander.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Jeremy Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #142. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the American Legion Post 142 of Waverly, 201 James Road, Waverly, Ohio 45690The Waverly High School Band, 1 Tiger Drive, Waverly, Ohio 45690 or NCR Hospice, 681 E. Third Street, Waverly, Ohio 45690.
