Gary Adams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 11, 2012.
LONGVIEW — Gary "G.W." Adams, 59, had a valiant fight with cancer and won, then later passed away February 8, 2012, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. His body was just too tired from his fight beating cancer.
He was born May 15, 1952, in Cooper, Texas, to Clyde and Lorene Adams. Growing up in Pecan Gap, Texas, he attended local schools and graduated from Fannindel High School. Gary then moved to Longview, where he lived the rest of his days.
All his life he loved to barbecue, competing and winning many competitions through the years. Gary owned and operated various BBQ restaurants during his adult life for 35 plus years, with the last one being Adams Rib at Lakeport.
He loved to fish and spent many fun-filled hours on Lake Cherokee with his family and friends. Gary also enjoyed bird hunting and was a devoted fan of the Tennessee Titans. He was a proud member of the NRA and a past board member of EVFD.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Janie Adams; daughter, Leslie Patton and her husband, Trey; son, Nick Clayton; daughters, Megan McKenry, Trae Adams and Annabelle Adams; granddaughter, Trinity Patton; grandson, Teagan Patton; two brothers, three sisters and best friend and brother-in-law, Joe Duncan.
On behalf of his family, a special thanks goes out to his eldest sister, Betty Martin. They would also like to thank Drs. Hong Shen and Luis Pinero and RN Curtis Dismuskes, as well as the entire staff of Baylor 7th floor Cancer Hospital.
There will be a celebration of Gary's life starting at 4 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2012, at Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity School of Texas, 215 Teague St. Longview, TX 75601; or the Leukemia/Lymphoma Foundation.
