George W. "Bill" Baker, 78, of Masonville, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was born January 14, 1930 in Daviess Co. to the late George and Frances Crutcher Baker. He was retired after 22 years with National Southwire and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a charter member of Masonville Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for 25 years. He was a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed hunting and collecting Indian relics. Bill was a devoted husband and a loving father to four children. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Roy Baker.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris Kasinger Baker, a son, Wayne Baker and wife Alisa of Owensboro, three daughters, Marilyn Baker of Ashburn, VA., Charlene Brown and husband Gary of Owensboro, and Brenda Baker of Atlanta, grandchildren, Amanda Raman, Laura Lee Brooks, Summer Roark, Ashton Roark, Emily Farris, Amanda Spurrier, Rozalynn Martin, Daniel Brown, and Amber Guinn, great grandchildren, Te'Lynn Farris, Arick Farris, Aubrey Martin, and Riley Spurrier, a sister, Betty and husband Dr. John Connor of Owensboro, and a brother, Randall Baker and wife Vee of Owensboro.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 15 at Masonville Baptist Church with Rev. Kimbrough Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post 696 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and after 10:00 A.M. Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Masonville Baptist Church, 6601 U. S. Highway 231, Utica, Ky. 42376.
