Gloria Myers Obituary
Gloria attended Waukegan West High School before attending and graduating from Marquette University with a nursing degree. A caretaker at heart, Gloria spent years working in the medical field but her favorite job was being the mother to her two children, Emily and Chris. Gloria was an incredibly involved mother in both of her children's lives and deeply loved her granddogs Lucas, Augie and Reba.
Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, sister, neighbor and friend to many. Gloria was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. Outside of her love for people, she enjoyed bird watching, gardening, crafting, woodworking, cooking and making a beautiful and welcoming home. In addition, Gloria was a devoted Catholic and leaned heavily on her faith throughout life.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 36 years, Merlin, children, Chris Myers and Emily Myers (Brett Johnson), brother Rick Kantola (Diana Altergott), brother-in-law Greg Myers, uncles Ron (Edie) Kantola and Robert (Elaine) Ogrin and aunts Patricia Kantola and Evie Kantola and many Kantola and Ogrin cousins. She is predeceased by parents Richard and Mary Jean Kantola, sister-in-law Vickie Myers, many beloved uncles, and an aunt.
A wake will be held at Gurnee Marsh Funeral Home on June 9th from 4-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on June 10th at 11 a.m. . Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Marsh Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Gloria's memory.
The family would like to extend their great appreciation to Gloria's incredible care team at Northwestern Medicine as well as her vast village of family and friends who have given their love and unrelenting support to Gloria in her greatest times of need, with a special thanks to her angel on Earth Mary (Dan) Kober.
