Wendy, I was thinking of you and Gordy the other day and decided to look you up. I am sad to hear of Gordy's death. I don't know if you remember me, but we took chemistry together at night at Los Alamos, when you were still dating. I used to spend the night with you guys sometimes. May God bless you always, your friend, Paula (Richey) Dupre

Wendy,
Even though I moved away, now and then I check the Monitor. Just now I read the sad news about your husband. I felt a special "kinship" because of our last names. It was always a pleasure to speak with both/either of you. I am so sorry.

Dear Wendy, Nick and Angela: Was just looking at the Los Alamos Monitor (a nostalgic thing I regularly do with the other papers I've worked at) and came across this sad news. Wendy, I treasure our three years working together, side by side, and how you mentored me -- and how fondly you spoke of Gordon and your children. And how you recounted his love of, and skill at, ice hockey. Little did I know then that Celeste's and my future son, Tanner, now 17, would be so passionate about a game I had no interest in but absolutely love now. Celeste and I also have a 15-year-old daughter, Cali. You and your family are in our prayers and thoughts. And Gordy is a man who influenced and affected so many lives. Take care, and peace and love to you and yours.

Dear Wendy, Angela, Nick, and family,
I was so sorry to learn of your loss. Gordon was a wonderfully loving, caring person whom we will all miss. He was a gentle, generous source of personal support when Jack died, for which I will always be grateful.
You are all in our prayers.
Love,
Sharon and Bill Eklund and Hannah and Alyssa

I was one of the older kids at St. Joseph's School in Hopkins Mn. when Fr. Hoffman came in and energized the whole place! He was the coolest priest ever, tooling around in his black Karmann Ghia. I always wondered where he'd gone to and was glad to find out he'd touched so many lives after leaving St. Joe's.
He really was a charismatic guy back in the day. RIP, Gordy Hoffman, and condolences to his family and friends.

We are sorry to hear about your loss - I remember Gordy at those Tuesday night 'fun runs', 'walking the dogs' on his bicycle (at least once) and his endless endeavors around the back yard, even one with a chainsaw in trees. He certainly lived life fully and energized those around him. We are better for having known him. May God bless.

Dear Wendy, Nick and Angela,
Mary and I were greatly saddened when we heard of the passing of Gordon. What a great father, grandfather, husband, colleague and friend. He was such a supportive, encouraging and positive role model to all those who knew and worked with him. His love of sports, especially soccer and hockey, was legendary--biking was also another super feat I will never forget. All that was secondary to his love of family and all who knews him. I am certainly grateful for his guidance and friendship all those years at Los Alamos High School. His ability to provide assistance to students, friends and family at just the right time was a amazing gift and extremely unique. He will be missed by all those who knew him; we are the fortunate ones for his continuing presence in our lives.
With sincere regards and sympathy, Vic and Mary Dalla Betta and family

Out daughter, Amanda, describes Gordon and Wendy as her second parents. We are grateful for your support of her and the others that invaded your home from time to time - all the time. Shirley and I are sorry to hear of Gordy's passing and our thoughts and prayers are with the Hoffman family - the extended family as well.

Dear Wendy, Nick, and Angela Sending my deepest, heartfelt sympathy to you at this most difficult, sad time. Dear Wendy, Nick and Angela and family,
We moved away from Los Alamos a very long time ago (1986), but have never forgotten the Hoffman family. Gordon was such a wonderful, kind, warm man who will be missed greatly by everyone who knew him.
Our son David, who now lives and works in San Francisco, grew up with Nick in his Pinon classes (perhaps even in pre-school and in the Y's infant swimming class, as well!) and in their Cub/Boy Scout troop at Pinon. David remains in touch with Nick through Facebook all these years later.
I knew Gordy not only from our lives in White Rick, but also when I was working as an aide in the English Department at Los Alamos High School in the mid-1980s, when he was the guidance counselor there.
Larry and I are now retired and living in our old college town of Lawrence, KS (University of Kansas Jayhawks.) Wendy, I see from what I have found on the Internet that you are retired from your job at LAMC.
Please know you are in our prayers as you grieve the loss of a very special husband, father, and grandfather. I just wish we were able to attend his memorial sevice today. You will certainly be in our thoughts and prayers.

Gordy was loved and respected by everyone who knew him in our parish. His aggressive hockey playing style is still legendary. He was the best.

Dear Wendy, Nick, and Angela,
It was with a sad heart I received news of Gordy's passing. As a colleague and friend for over 30 years, he gave me so much personally and professionally. He was much more than a friend. Gordon was both coach and mentor to my son, Justin, one of those adopted members of the Hoffman family. Gordy instilled a love of hockey in Justin that lasted through college. Gordy would probably be proud that today Justin races bicycles. I will cherish the memory of playing pool with Gordon at the Ehart Center on one of my last visits to Los Alamos. I don't think I've encountered many people in my life with a purer heart and a greater love of life than Gordy.

We extend our sincere wishes for peace, and of love, to the family of "Gordy" with whom we grew up at Rosen, Minnesota. I also went to Nazareth Hall at the same time, and admired Fr.Gordon in his work as a parish priest. We always looked up to him as a fine role model, and talked to him last in St Paul at his sister, Evie's, memorial service.
