Hilda "Cissy" Hunter Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 5, 2024.
Hilda "Cissy" Robison Hunter, age 83, of Anniston, Alabama, passed away on August 4, 2024. Cissy was born in Anniston on November 12, 1940, the daughter of Cecil Lee Robison and Hilda Smith Robison. She graduated from Anniston High School and attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, where she graduated in 1962 with a degree in Psychology and Education. She later earned a Masters in Education from the University of Alabama, although she was a lifelong Auburn fan.

Cissy was a schoolteacher for over twenty-five years. She was passionate about encouraging her students and making them feel they were capable of anything if they put in the effort. Her love for swimming and diving poured over into the kids she coached during the summers at the Anniston Country Club. She was a devoted mom and a faithful friend.

As a member of Church of the Highlands for 17 years, she served on the Dream Team and was involved in numerous small groups. She left an enduring legacy of having a servant's heart. Before moving to Birmingham, she was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Anniston where her family attended since her birth.

Cissy was preceded in death by his four brothers Mike, Bill, Edward, and John, and her grandson, Cole Fagan. She is survived by her daughter, Taylor Fagan (Ray); 3 grandchildren, Alex McDonald (Daniel), Whitney Walker, and Madison Fagan; and 2 great-grandchildren, Wylee McDuell and Olivia McDonald. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Emily Robison and Jamie Robison, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the Church of the Highlands Chapel, Grants Mill Campus, 4700 Highlands Way, Birmingham, AL 35210. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highlands College, 3660 Grandview Pkwy, Birmingham, AL 35243.

The family would like to express special appreciation to Enhabit Hospice and her nurse, Rebecca LeBlanc.
