Ivy Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 4, 2025.
Miss Ivy Wilda Williams, 75, passed away on March 1, 2025, in Hampton, Virginia. Born on June 20, 1949, in Hampton, she spent her life dedicated to caring for others and cherishing time with family and friends.

Ivy pursued her education in the Hampton public school system before continuing her studies at Thomas Nelson Community College. She built a fulfilling career as a registered nurse, working at Hampton General Hospital and with numerous home health agencies. Her dedication to healthcare reflected her compassionate nature and commitment to helping those in need.

Beyond her professional life, Ivy found joy in simple pleasures. She loved watching television, particularly mysteries, crime dramas, and science fiction. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling with friends and attending roller derby events. She also valued staying connected through occasional phone calls with loved ones.

Ivy is survived by her sister Carol Hundley (George), brother Gerard Williams, daughter Andrea Williams, granddaughters Monne Williams (Donna) and Lenita Williams, nieces Suction Hundley and Alexandria Williams, and great-niece Kiara Mabry. She was predeceased by her grandmother Wilda Carter; parents Elbert and Margaret Williams; uncles Percy Washington and William Washington; brother Bernard Washington; and sister Doreatha Douglas Fields.

A funeral service will be held on March 10, 2025, at CC Carter Funeral Home, located at 3700 Marshall Avenue, Newport News, Virginia 23607. The service will begin at 11:00 AM and conclude at 12:00 PM. There will be an option to watch the service via Zoom for those unable to attend in person. A viewing will be held March 09, 2025, 12:00 to 4:pm, CC Carter Funeral Home. The interment will be at Hampton Memorial Gardens on Butler Farm Road, following the funeral service.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Sharon Blount for her kindness and homemade cakes that always brightened Ivy's days; the Barkers for their years of care and vigilance over Ivy's home; and Terrence Exum for his many visits to assist with anything needed. They also wish to thank everyone who has offered prayers and acts of kindness during this time of loss.

I first met my bonus Sister Ivy during a visit while attending former President Obama´s´ inauguration. She welcomed me as an overnight guest. She was so loving and hospitable. We hit it off immediately. I will miss her smile and laughter. Rest In Peace Dear Ivy. My deepest condolences to my bonus family:

She never left you
She´ll watch you every day
She is always very near
I know deep in your heart
You realize I am here
She´ll watch over you while you sleep
She'll hear you when you speak to her
When you are on your own
You cannot understand
The reason why she has gone
But she will never leave you
She is there to keep you strong
Talk to her she´lI hear you Though you may not see
We share an unbroken bond
That will always be
Death won't keep us apart
FOR OUR LOVE IS FOREVER
Just remember me in your heart And one day we will be together
LIVE YOUR LIFE AND LIVE IT FULL
Don't waste a single day.
Remember I am always with you Every step of the way.
