Rosemarie so sorry for your loss. Jim was a great guy. I enjoyed working with him in Security. It was such a pleasure to go into work every day and see his smiling face. He always made me laugh. Rest in peace Jim and God Bless you Rosemarie and god give you the strength to get through this difficult time. He will be missed.

Ernest Hemingway defined courage as exhibiting grace under pressure. By that standard Jim Coney was an extraordinarily courageous man who acted with grace and purpose in all aspects of his life. Starting when he enlisted in the Marines at 17, serving in the Korean Conflict at 18, and throughout his 30 year distinguished career in the EB Plant Protection organization, Jim successfully navigated countless pressure packed situations and in doing so, he treated all he encountered with fairness, dignity and respect. Jim's grace (and humor) under pressure were particularly evident as he courageously battled health challenges at the end of his life.

Jim was always the funniest person in every room he entered or circumstance he encountered. His levity was never forced or contrived, it was always genuine and natural. His humor was not founded in jokes, but in perfectly timed comments or one liners. Jim often used humor as a way of reducing the tension and lightening the mood showing those involved that no problem was unsolvable.

Jim never sought the spotlight, but the spotlight always found Jim. He was a comfortable and gifted communicator and connector whether he was dealing with a member of senior leadership at EB or a server in a diner. As good as Jim was at talking to people, he was an even better listener. Jim was a tremendous motivator, because he was always motivated himself. Jim was a lead from the front kind of Manager. He never asked someone to do anything he wouldn't do himself, or hadn't done as he worked his way through the ranks to assume the most senior leadership position in the EB Security Dept. Jim's unimpeachable integrity and universal credibility made him the perfect selection to lead the EB Security organization during a time of significant turmoil and transition.

Because of his life experience and his "glass is half full" outlook, no moment was or ever too big for Jim. He was never intimidated by the power or position of a person. He was comfortable engaging with anyone at any time.

As proud as Jim was of his service in the Marines and in EB Security, he was most proud of his family. He treasured the relationships he had with Rosemarie, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were a source of tremendous joy and fulfillment and I want to express my deepest sympathies to them.

I am proud and privileged to have known Jim Coney as a mentor and dear friend for more than 43 years. My personal and professional life were significantly enhanced and enriched by the relationship I had with Jim and the counsel and perspective he provided. May he rest in peace. I will smile whenever I think of Jim and his infectious laugh.

Rosemarie, my condolences to you and family members on the loss of Jim. I knew Jim for several years from Electric Boat. I also met you there as well. Jim was a hard working, one of a kind gentleman and I was blessed to have known him. His laughter was infectious and he always helped anyone he could. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I know God will see you through this very sad time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My deepest condolences to Rosemarie and family on the passing of Jim. It was my pleasure to have work with and have the acquaintance of Jim. He was a man of true integrity, honesty and humor. Jim was a true gentleman. No one was a stranger to Jim. He and I would often joke and laugh about various things. I will always remember his laugh and smile.
Again my deepest sympathy to the family.
