James NIVEN Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Jun. 30, 2012.
NIVEN, James Robert (Jim)
James Robert Niven was born June, 1919 in Nelson, BC. He passed away suddenly at home with his wife at his side, 5 days short of his 93rd birthday, healthy and active to the end. Jim loved his wife Jean, who he was with since their marriage in London in 1944. Jean was a war bride as Jim was serving with the RCAF and posted in London. Jim is survived by Jean, his daughter Susan and son Steven. He was passionate about his golf, garden, family and loved his crossword puzzles. There will be a celebration of life later with the date to be announced.

Hi Jean, Susan and Steve
Sorry to hear about Uncle Jim's passing.
He was one of my uncles of which I have such fond memories of. Especially when he took us up behind the high school to show me how to hit a golf ball... the playing fields had lots of room which was needed???....great teacher!
Please let us know when you are having a service/gathering.
Big hugs to you all...
Dianne

Dear Jean

I am so very saddened to hear of your loss. Jim was a wonderful person and a great man; always polite, jovial, kind hearted. His love and pride for you, Susan, and Steven came through in every word he spoke. My sincere condolences to you and the family.
Thinking of you often with love.
