GRIMLEY
Joan D., 88, passed away December 3, 2016, in the arms of her loving family.
Beloved wife of husband, Richard A. Grimley, Joan was born in New York, NY in July, 1928. As a young girl, Joan attended Miss Fine's School in Princeton, NJ (now Princeton Country Day School), followed with Briarcliff College and Hood College, and graduated from Katharine Gibbs School in New York, NY. Joan possessed a life-long love of music and literature and had the gift of a beautiful singing voice.
Joan and her husband of 62 years raised their family in Ridgewood, NJ. Her deepest joy came from her five children and numerous dear friends, as well as her passionate interest in children's issues, animals, and volunteer service with the Junior League of Bergen County, NJ, with special devotion to the Creative Children's Theatre, a former program of the Junior League, as well as the Forum School located in Wald-wick, NJ.
Joan dedicated 13 years to Wyckoff Baptist Church in Wyckoff, NJ as a highly regarded Administrator to their Pastor at that time, Pastor Robert Hall. She continued her career for another three years in the same capacity at Christ Church in Ridgewood, NJ. Together, Joan and Richard were faithful members of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Always the quintessential lady, she always lived her life with grace and understated elegance, and was revered by those she held dear who now survive her: Husband, Richard A. Grimley, Jupiter, FL; Margaret G. Summers, (Phil) Monroe, NY; Anne Bennett-Ciaglia (Vince), Tequesta, FL; David E. Grimley, (Michele), Pennington, NJ; John A. Grimley, (Laurie), East Stroudsburg, PA, and Joyce G. McDonnell, (Mike), of Rosemont, PA. Her eleven grandchildren, Tony, Meg-han, Kaitlin, Anne, Ian, Brian, Declan, Michael, Ch-loe, Jordan and Leah, as well as her three great-grandchildren, Baylee, Avery and Dylan, shared a loving bond with Joan, who's ability to love unconditionally and with no bounds, was palpable in her presence.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome in Joan's name to Children International, 2000 E Red Bridge Road, P.O. Box 219055, Kansas City, MO 64121.
