RACINE - John J. Allen, 56, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI. John was born in Chicago, IL, September 24, 1949, son of Eugene W. "Bill" and Eleanor H. (nee: Radz) Allen. John proudly served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War and was a Veteran's Advocate. On November 3, 1973, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Suzanne C. Litrenta. John was a graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing and was employed by Kenosha Memorial Hospital for fifteen years, last working at St. Luke's South Shore, Cudahy, WI. John was a Harley enthusiast, an avid Bears fan and in his younger years he was active in Racine city softball leagues. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and son who loved being with his family. He will be sadly missed. Survivors include his wife, Suzanne; his sons, Christopher and Brian Allen; his mother, Eleanor Allen; his sisters and brother, Janice J. Baskin, Nancy L. Dorgan, Mary Beth (Brian) Randle, Michael W. Allen, Patricia A. (Luke) Arnold; mother-in-law, Frances Poulsen; brother-in-law, Jeffrey (Lori) Litrenta; nephew, Corporal Matthew Litrenta, USMC; other nieces, nephews, relatives, many dear friends and his faithful companions, Jake, Lexie, Elmo, and BK. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene "Bill" Allen, and his father-in-law, William Poulsen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green Street, Tuesday, September 12, 2006, 12 noon with Rev. Russel Stommel officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the funeral home 5 until 7 p.m. and Tuesday at the church 11:30 a.m. until time of Mass.
