Joseph Milton JerniganJoseph Milton Jernigan, age 58 of Dalton, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Hamilton Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Betty Marouseck Jernigan Calder and his great-granddaughter, MaHayla Breanne Locklear.Mr. Jernigan was a minister of God for over 35 years of his life. He was a caring and compassionate husband, daddy, papaw, brother and friend. He served God in all things he did. He was humble, strong and never complained. A caring man with a big heart. His favorite scripture was Romans 8:35-39. His wish is for those left behind was “not to focus on what was but on what now is.” We are comforted knowing he is pain free and singing in the arms of God.He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Janet L. Jernigan; father, Milton T. Jernigan and stepmother, Judy Jernigan; aunt Mary Fair, aunt and uncle Patsy and Ernest Edwards; sister, Rebecca Overton; daughters and son-in-law, Mandi and Tony Martin, Candi and Chris McCraw and B. JoAnna and Ronnie Davenport, Ashley Jernigan and Geoffrey Beavers; very special stepgrandson, “His boy” Matthew King; stepchildren, Ronnie McGill, Shawn McGill, Tracy McGill, Stacy McGill and Kimberly Infante; granddaughters, BreAnne Locklear, Faith Barnheart, Brittani Davenport, Sarah Davenport and Madison Davenport; eight step-grandchildren, nieces and very special cousins, Carl and Myrtis Priest, Eddie and Lisa Davis and their children.The funeral service will be Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Carroll Allen and Rev. Larry Woodson officiating. Burial will be in Dawnville Cemetery.
