TAYLOR, Kenneth F. DR. KENNETH F. TAYLOR Dr. Kenneth F. Taylor, 72, of Fayetteville, GA, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2009. A "Celebration of Life" service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. in the Student Center, Conference Room A, at Atlanta Metropolitan College, 1630 Metropolitan Parkway, S.W., Atlanta, GA 30310. Dr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Dr. Marilyn S. Taylor; daughter, Lesley Taylor; two brothers, Joseph F. Taylor (Carolyn), Sacramento, CA; Harrison L. Taylor (Verdelle) of Tuscaloosa, AL; two brothers-in-law, Reverend Lawrence Haygood, Sr., Tuskegee, Alabama and Donald Small (Betty), Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law, Deborah S. Powell (Dr. C. Clayton), Atlanta, GA, a host of loving relatives and friends. Dr. Taylor graduated from Druid High School, in Tuscaloosa, AL and continued his postsecondary studies at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1959. He later enlisted into the United States Army and served in the capacity of Medical Corpsman. After receiving an "Honorable Discharge" in 1966, he was hired as one of the first black administrators to work for General Electric in Memphis, TN. However, his passion and pursuit of academic excellence continued and he returned to the university to pursue postgraduate coursework, receiving his Master of Arts degree from the University of Alabama in 1969 and his Doctor of Education, two years later, from the University of Alabama in 1971. His attainment of academic excellence commenced his professional career as a college professor working at Benedict College in Columbia, SC and Savannah State University in Savannah, GA until his retirement 25 years later in 1997. Dr. Taylor was affectionately known to family and friends as "Kenn". He was admired for his style, love of reading, his love of the culinary arts, and his wit and generosity. He reminded everyone, those who knew him, through his stories or simply his actions, of the true meaning of family. Those whose lives he touched, cherished his kinship and revered his friendship, and spoke of Dr. Taylor as being truly one of the finest people a person could know. The family will receive guests on Friday evening, December 18, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at their residence. The family is requesting, that in lieu of flowers, to please consider a memorial donation in memory of Dr. Kenneth F.
