Kevin Charles Cottrell passed unexpectedly at his Sausalito home on December 10. He was a proud native San Franciscan, a graduate of USF and Golden Gate College of Law, and one of life's great characters. A charter member of the Marina Boys, avid golfer, animal lover, John Wayne movie aficionado, mentor and friend to many. Adored for his opinionated and frank disposition, he loved his friends and family deeply, without hesitation, and they loved him right back.

Not a day goes by when I don't think of my dear friend and mentor. I have a void that can never be filled. I would have daily calls with Kevie starting before the market bell rang in NY. He taught me much and I miss being able to tease him. I would say the thing I miss the most is belly laughing almost daily with him. See you on the other side my friend. Please have a tee time for us when I arrive.

Kevin lived with me at Brophy Prep in Phoenix for his senior year.
I just finished a book of memoirs and wrote a chapter on him. If any relative or friend would want to read it, contact me 602.828.6277 or [email protected]. Thanks! Tom Sweeney.
He was a riot!

I have been talking to Kevin since 1994, when I briefly did business with him at a prior firm. I proudly call him a friend. I'd go to SF on business, stop by his home, and he'd take me to lunch at the Italian place down the hill. While our face to face visits have become less frequent, even up until his passing we talked almost every day about the markets. Always looked forward to his call. He was IN IT and INTO IT... always. Loved it.
Today I called him to wish him Happy New Year, and when I got no answer something made me concerned enough to dig into where he was... and here I am.
He was like a Wall Street father to me, and taught me so much.
I'll miss you honey. RIP
My condolences to his friends and family.

Kevin was a bit of a rascal...He reminded me of my Dad, loved to play golf and both were wonderful story tellers. One thing about Kevin, He always made me laugh. RIP my friend, you will be missed.

Kevin was a wonderful endearing cousin.
Seldom seen but always knew he was having fun and was missed as he always created an aura of mischief!

One needed to meet Kevin only once to be fond of him forever. Funny and smart and endearing like a devilish child, he was one of those rare creatures, a very real guy. He left too soon but made the most of it all. A smile and a tear Kevin, it was an honor to know you. Janet Quigley

Even though I haven't seen Kevin in over 60 years I still have fond memories of sharing my grade school experiences with him while attending N.D.V.. I especially remember the fun times we had at and around his family home by the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco.
May your eternal rest by filled with as many laughs as we had during our grade school years.
